In 2008, the assets that formed the hydro-power generating plant at Cahorra Bassa were finally handed over to the Government of Mozambique. This was an event of great political and economic significance as this plant was the single largest asset in Mozambique in the last 30 years.
85% of the power generated at HCB is sold to South Africa and the brand has a significant regional significance.
With the branding of HCB, HKLM had to incorporate the liberation of the plant and signal the potential of renewed national growth.
The plant is situated within the community of Songo, a town of about 60 000 residents of whom all are reliant on the power station.
The HKLM-designed brand won brand of the year in Mozambique in 2010.
